Hello! Meet the Duck-Billed Platypus!

Meet the Duck-Billed Platypus

This site is dedicated to raising public awareness about the plight of the threatened species, the duck-billed platypus.  The duck-billed platypus, known scientifically as Ornithorhynchus anatinus, was first listed as an endangered species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 1905, and has been protected ever since. Fortunately, conservation efforts to protect the species, which inhabits the Western Australian wetlands,  have been quite successful.  In fact, the duck-billed platypus was taken off of the endangered species list in 1950; however, it has been classified as a threatened species of least concern ever since. Feel free to browse this site, and please leave a comment if you wish as well!
